The Mask Project

The mask in progress

The mask project was inspired by my interest in gadgets, particularly the protective accessories we use to cover them, such as iSkins.

Or furry creatures.

I wanted to create an iMe. A protective object that would serve as a second skin for my face.

I decided to seal my eyes within the mask, effectively rendering me blind while wearing it. This created an interesting situation where by I needed to photograph myself in order to see if the work was successful. By the time I had completed the mask, I had accumulated several hundred of these images.
